POEM STARTER
After The Storm
Using any form of poetry, write about an emotion as if it were a storm.
After The Storm
You drain me. Every part of me.
The pain floods through my whole body so suddenly-
The currents pull out fragments of my heart
You leave me in utter despair, slowly tearing me apart
The tears envelope me, each one stronger than the last
The flesh of my skin burns with each drop that comes so fast
Lighting cracks, electrifying my tired body, zapping only me
I don't know why, all I want is to be free
But the storm stays, and you mockingly leave
You were once my riptide, but now you take off, giving me grief
But when time passed, the rain sprinkled, instead of pouring
The tides cleared, giving me hope and restoring
When the storm left, so did my love for you
I didn’t drown, my heart stitched, now together, back in two
Sometimes dull and gray clouds came back, but only once in a while
Now look at me, head over water, walking down an aisle
