I watched as the birds flew

I ever wondered if that could be me

I watched as they flew away into the gloomy sky

I knew that was not the life I could have

Freedom

Those were the words I never knew nor felt

Trapped in a moment of despair knowing my life would not be like those birds

Those birds were bred in captivity, like me

Knowing they soon may be lunch for a beast of prey

There is worse fate

I’d rather fly and face the risk of death instead of having no freedom

I cannot escape nor shall I ever
