STORY STARTER

Submitted by b Quill To Page

Write a short story including a character who is ‘the rough in the diamonds’ instead of ‘the diamond in the rough.’

Diamond

(Can y’all guess who I got inspiration from for Seth? Hint: he’s from a kids show)

(The “rough”part is that he thinks bad about everyone and has a bunch of ulterior motives for almost everything)

“Perfect”

“Poised”

“Polite”

That’s what people see me as. The perfect son of the ambassador. The one who knows 4 languages and is going to graduate college as a highschool junior. Then I go to law school. Seth, that’s my name. Rich folk say it’s unique. They say that because they think it’s grungy but like me too much to vocalize this opinion. You can tell though. At least, I can. I don’t know why they think it’s grungy, Seth seems fine. Maybe it’s because it’s not the most traditional name like Matthew, William, Henry, etc etc. Anyways, it doesnt really matter. I used to care what people thought, then I realized people are biased, go off their gut, and don’t know everything. Now I don’t care. People are just passing thoughts to me. Tools to use to get where I want. Every once in a while, I meet someone who’s worth liking, worth spending my time on. Then I end up dropping them because they distract me, or they drop me because of my disposition. The people I’m friends with I usually use to get my way. I use them to help me study, to remind me of things, to get me a better reputation. I try to get a better reputation, not for anybody, for the few people I need to impress. Teachers, collages, people who have influence. I try to avoid people, they just take up so much energy; they talk for no reason about nothing at all. It’s not lonely though. I have my parents, books, and school work. I’m too busy for just anyone. If I want to talk to you, I’ll make time. Unless I do, I don’t care. It’s a better life. Better than being in drama: better than having to help others for no reason; better than being drained from talking about nothing; better than a lot. And I’m happy about that, about this.

“Sorry Emily, I don’t have time to hang out with you and you’re friends. I wish I did but I’m just so busy. See you tomorrow.”

“Bye, Seth.”

_I was kinda distracted while writing and yeah there’s no real reason to it. It’s just an overview of his life. Anyways, have a good day!!! Let me know if you can guess who he was inspired by!_
