POEM STARTER

Submitted by XOXO, Z A I N 🩵

“Clouds cover the skies, rain pulls at your eyes,

but nothing hurts as much as little words turned lies'

Use this stanza as either part of, or inspiration for a poem.

Lies

What was real and what was fake?

Was it all a big mistake?

Everything is falling apart

because it’s all messed up from the start.

Walls shame, foundations crack,

decrepit like a ramshackle shack.

**A relationship built on lies**

**is destined to surely die. **

Clouds cover the skies, rain pulls at your eyes,

but nothing hurts as much as little words turned lies.

Your world is flipped upside down,

your happy smiles turned into frowns.

Do you even know yourself?

What other lies are still withheld?

If everything wasn’t true,

where does that put you?

“I love you” was never real,

now you see how they really feel.

Betrayal hurts like a knife to the heart,

a pain that is going to tear you apart.

It never dulls and it always aches,

to see that you’ve been sleeping with snakes.
