The day you were white and walk to a man in a suit
Waiting for you at the end of an aisle
Will be the best and worst day of my life
I’ll wear some horribly distasteful shade of pastel
One that we would have laughed at someone in Amy other day
And waterproof mascara so my tears don’t run down my face
And you’ll smile at me softly
Trying to stop them from coming at all
I’ll hand over the rings
And I’ll give it to him he did a great job
With my assistance of course
But I’ll hold on a bit tighter than need be
Because this will be the last moment where it’s just you and me
The you and me who got through heartbreak
And the you and me who found love
But I never really thought about the day love separates us
Where you have to go be a you and me with someone else
One who wasn’t there for your I hate men phase
Or the take a shot and scream black eyed peas before going out days
But I can’t even be mad
Cause he loves you in all the right ways
All the ways that god has heard me pray over and over
Tant you would be loved
Gently and softly and fully
All the ways that I love you
But I can’t help but be reminded that the ring he slips on your finger
Is not just a symbol of change
But change its self
I’m no longer your first emergency call
Which is weird because up until this point
You and I were all each other had
So with your bouquet in hand
While you turn around to softly smile and stop my tears
I’ll let them fall anyway
Cause that will be the last time it’s just you and me
But I’ll wipe them away just as quickly as they fell
And thank god for answering the prayers I prayed
For giving you love just as strong as mine
One that will love you in sickness and in health
One tant will be with you until death do you part
Just as I do
I can’t wait for this day to come for you xx
