POEM STARTER
Write an elegy about the death of something other than a person.
An elegy is a sad poem, traditionally expressing sorrow for someone who has passed away.
The Death Of Emotions
Does love die, does it lie?
Does it stay constant, or deny?
Does it hurt, does it flirt,
Does love even work?
In your beginning love is born,
Love is nurtured, love is torn.
How love feels as love grows,
How it steals and how it shows.
How it heals, how it lives,
How much beauty love still gives.
Love can dim, love can go,
Love is warm, yet love is cold.
Love is bold—my love I hold.
Love can fade, love can stay,
Love is loud in its own way.
Love is proud, and love is kept,
Love is saved, it has stayed, never left.
In birth, in life, in heart, in breath,
In every moment—even death.
So no, love doesn’t die;
Not even as the years go by.
Love lives, love thrives, love will remain,
It’s only hate that dies in vain.
