WRITING OBSTACLE

Create a conversation that takes place within a human body.

It can be between cells, organs, or anything real or imagined within the body.

Organ Alert

"Tell her she's drinking too much," the liver said to the spleen.

"That's not in my job description dude," replied the spleen. "Besides, dude, you're too uptight. She's twenty-five years old, let her have some reckless fun."

"I'm not uptight. I take offense to you calling me uptight," the liver said hotly in its defense.

"Dude, see, right there, that's what I mean. You take things too seriously. You need to just chill sometimes." The spleen pointed out.

The liver could not chill. It was overworked and needed a break. Gray was drinking heavily EVERY SINGLE DAY. It was working overtime trying to filter all those shots of tequila from her bloodstream. It got more challenging as the days passed as she began drinking earlier and earlier, giving the liver less time to do its job before she consumed more alcohol.

Unbeknownst to Gray, she inherited a genetic predisposition to fatty liver disease and cirrhosis. She was raised by a single mother, and her knowledge about her family history was full of plot holes.

Unlike her friends who could throw back shot after shot of tequila with no repercussions, Gray's liver was on the brink of giving up on her.

“I’ll send a message to her kidneys,” said the liver to the spleen. “Thanks for nothing.”

“Why are you trying to get other organs to do your job?” the spleen inquired.

“Because….,” began the liver, “forget about it,” it decided.

“Just give her some jaundice or ascites if you are so concerned,” suggested the spleen.

“See, that is the problem. I can’t send her a message directly. If I did, it would be the beginning of the end for her. I won’t be able to call back the henchmen,” explained the liver.

It felt remorseful. It really liked Gray a lot. Up until three months ago, everything was just fine.

Then suddenly, she found out her boyfriend Jake had been cheating on her.

Damn Jake!
