POEM STARTER

Playing With Fire.

Write a poem which uses this as the central theme.

Loving/Burning

I’m sweating and nervous.

My body feels cold yet burns.

I can feel my stomach as it twists and churns.

Whether it’s in reality or metaphorically,

I can feel you deep in my heart.

The same one you’ll rip apart.

I shouldn’t be letting you get so close.

I should be running away.

Not letting you lead me astray.

The things I feel for you are more fear than love.

Being near you makes it hard to breathe air.

Tell me in which world does this seem fair?

You make me act in ways I never have before.

I’m usually smarter.

I usually think so much harder.

My life has always been white and black.

But when I’m with you, everything changes.

Like if I’ve never felt this alive in ages.

But anything we have is beyond wrong.

Anything that includes you means danger.

I should just treat you as I would a stranger.

Yet now I’m already in too deep.

But I can’t help but play with fire.

And I can’t stop until I burn or until you tire.
