STORY STARTER
Your main character wakes up in an unknown place, tied up and gagged. Unfortunately, her kidnapper doesn't know she's highly trained, in control, and unafraid.
Introduce a powerful female lead who handles her misfortune like a badass.
Cliche
I hate kidnapping stories. People read them for the thrill, but why would you get a thrill from the same story over and over again. A muscular, dark-hair male takes a female for ransom or love. And in the end they always escape. Thats how I am about most things, though. I don’t see the logic in reading or watching something in which you know how it ends. My friends call me crazy, that no one should hate movies and books, but I like to stick to reality. And right about now my reality was as stupid as those stories.
Tape around my wrists, ankles, and over my mouth. A darkly colored room with no accessible windows. A door. My surroundings seemed useless to why this cliche had been destined to meet me. And of course, just as I’d guessed, a tall, muscular, darkly colored hair man came through the door.
As my eyes adjusted to the dark, the man rips off my gag and I see his eyes. Oh god. I knew those eyes.
“Justus? Seriously?” It came out sounding more disappointed than I meant it to sound. Sure, I was expecting someone I knew, but not him.
He seemed dissatisfied as well, as to my reaction not being teary and terrified. He should know by now I’ve never been like that.
“Hey Daphne. Miss me?”
I smothered a laugh. “The deep voice does not do you anything but second-hand embarrassment. What do you want?”
“Why’d you ghost me in college, Daph?!” His voice immediately went a register higher. “We were the power couple! Then you went off to date Cole?”
I physically shuddered. “That’s what this is about? Breaking up with you? 5 years ago?”
“Well yeah, I mean—“
“And what would kidnapping me do?”
“I want you to confess your love to me, Daphne! Come on, you can’t possibly still be dating Cole!” He grinned down at me, his eyes glimmering. Did he really think this would work?
“Your right.” I say, smirking. “I’m not still dating him.”
He punched his fist to the sky. “I knew it!!”
“We’ve been married for a year.”
He immediately deflated, genuinely looking like whatever happiness I filled him with, popped. “What?” His voice came out whiny, even though he had to be late-twenties at this point.
“You also messed up something else, Justus.”
“What?”
I grinned. “You didn’t tie me to the chair.” I swung my taped together legs up and hit him where it definitely hurts.
He groaned, slumping over on the ground, sobbing curses.
“When I was still sitting in the chair, I grabbed the tape around my ankles and ripped it off. Then running out the door, I cut the tape around my wrists off, found his car keys, and drove here.”
The police officer looked at me in shock. “And all this happened just now?”
“Nope, 20 years ago. Of course now!” I shook my head. “And if we don’t arrest him now, I know he’ll be playing into his villan arc robbing some bank. Come on!”
