STORY STARTER

Write a short story about a fantasy creature going to the doctor for their yearly check-up. What would they measure? What constitutes as 'normal'?
Last Appointment Of The Day
“Dr. Tamara your last appointment of the day is here.”
The nursing assistant stands aside as a woman follows behind, she’s dressed in all black with a hint of red on her lips and accenting her leather jacket and studded boots.
“Come in Yelena, how was your journey?”
Yelena takes a seat on the cold blue chair and Dr. Tamara lowers her down so she’s laying flat on her back.
“It was good thank you, things are much faster when flying.”
Dr. Tamara nods as she gestures for Yelena to open wide.
“I see a little wearing down, how many necks have you bitten recently?”
“Ownly lhike tee” Yelena says with her mouth held open by Dr. Tamara’s index finger hooking the side of her mouth.
“And you’ve been flossing and brushing with a round head toothbrush like we talked about?”
Dr. Tamara removes her finger from Yelena’s mouth and waits for an answer.
“Yeah and I’ve even been using mouth wash too.”
“That’s good,” the doctor sits down on her chair and leans forward. “Like I say your teeth look perfectly healthy, your fangs are in good condition, there is slight wear and tear, but that’s to be expected. I would suggest cutting down the amount of people you’re biting, going for blood banks and stuff like that is better, but if you must bite someone then make sure their neck isn’t thick. The last thing we want is your fangs falling out.”
Yelena nods taking in all the advice.
“We have upped our pricing so today’s session will be sixty-five pounds now, you’ve already paid thirty last time so it’s just thirty-five for today. Make sure you brush twice a night one in the twilight and one just before dawn, after a feed make sure you thoroughly rinse your mouth out after. Blood can get stuck to fangs and the sugars in them can make them decay faster. With all that said I’ll see you this time next year.”
Yelena thanks the doctor and heads out to reception.
The nursing assistant re-enters the room after Yelena leaves and helps tidy away the instruments.
“So what are your plans for tonight?” She asks with a smile.
Dr. Tamara looks out her window with a content sigh.
“Tonight I’m going to hunt.”
