STORY STARTER

If only she knew.
Write a story or poem that has this as the opening line.
goodbyes
(Tried something along the sides of free verse, but I’m not too sure how it came along. An attempt at best.)
Hellos and greetings
‘See ya’s and farewells
And yet something seems too final about a goodbye
Nothing like a ‘till we meet again’
Goodbyes never said are written in stone
A burden on your shoulders
A weighted crown
For the one you loved
Is lying six feet under
In the ground
And that is a story you can’t forget
A broken promise
You can’t forgive
This poem doesn’t make sense
Not till you experience
The unmistakable feeling of grief
If only she knew
How I’m hurting
Mother, every minute we could have had
Would have been worth it
I’d kill for ten minutes with you
Maybe even three
But tonight I’ll sit in my sorrow
And wait till I recognize the time pass
For time heals all wounds
And I will learn to thrive
Never forget another farewell
Because I know the importance
Of goodbye
