Why do roses have thorns?

Perhaps protection from greedy hands

Perhaps from creatures and insects of the land

Perhaps beauty is pain afterall

What I do know is, they didn’t add thorns

in fairytale roses

Call me a realist or perhaps a romantic

But it’s a bittersweet feeling to hold a rose for its beauty and be pricked by it
