POEM STARTER
Write a poem that has a whimsical mood.
The word whimsical is defined as being playfully fanciful, especially in an appealing way. What kind of language would you use to portray this?
Nature’s Song
I turn and turn, ‘neath
the soft Summer burn
Listening to the soft hums,
I dance to the nonexistent drums
The songs and the beauty of it all;
Of Springtime before the Fall
The Flowers sing praises up to the Sky,
beholden upon a deity nigh
The Sky calls down with mighty threats,
telling of all of our regrets
The Grass cries ballads of broken dreams,
twirling lost through water in winding streams
The Wind whistles of shattered hearts,
two halves of a whole pulled apart
The Trees whisper of spilled secrets,
twisted and evil, rendering nights sleepless
The Clouds tell of the grandest stories,
myths and legends and the utmost glories
I sing and dance and hum along,
caught up in the eerie song
So lost am I, I do not see
that they have been watching me
Watching me and watching you,
spying on your family, too
We may leave this place,
but Nature will live on,
singing of this wondrous song
