The Storyteller
“Beyond the maps, where legends dwell,
I ventured into the unknown.
Through thunderclaps, and giant swell,
I sailed off all on my own.
For many days, and sleepless nights,
I fight against the waves.
Losing my way, my left from right,
I stumble upon the cave.
Towards the shore, I steer my boat,
And look with trepidation.
And then I moor, lump in my throat,
Heart pumps exhilaration.
The fabled hole, of countless wealth,
I step into its mouth.
I’ve reached my goal, all by myself,
But that’s where things went south.
I got the gold, but also a curse,
Never to be removed.
My story retold, in fullest verse,
Until then we cannot move.”
My legs relax, I turn my neck,
Avert the crazed man’s gaze.
I don’t look back, I start to trek,
And head off on my way.
