Pain

She stared at me for a moment, then plunged the knife into my stomach. I lift my eyes to meet hers, my gaze dark.

“You fool, pain doesn’t burden me, you know that.” I sneer, pulling the knife out. No blood. As expected. And yet I felt it, a sharp stinging feeling. But not in my stomach… in my chest? Why on Earth would that be?

Nyx didn’t speak, she merely stared at me, panting, her form shaking like a leaf. I would scoff if I wasn’t so focused on this unfamiliar feeling. Is this pain? But it’s ever so… sorrowful.

I mean, she betrayed me, I’m angry, sure, a bit satisfied when she realised that it didn’t work… but ultimately confused.

“What did you do to me?” I demand, stepping forward.

Stepping back, she narrowed her eyes, clenching her fists, “Nothing, *sshole.” As hatred seeped through her tone, the sharp sting only flared into something more intense.

“Then what is this damn feeling?” I yell. The look she gives me makes the pain reach its peak.

That’s when Nyx pauses. Stops. Stares at me. “It’s what you call heartbreak,” she straightened, raising her chin, “Get used to it. It’s what you deserve and more.”

With that, she left.

I sat on the ground. Heartbreak? Impossible… I don’t feel pain. _Physical_ pain…

I put my face in my hands… emotional pain… heartbreak. I can almost feel the stinging of the stab wound. I miss her.
