POEM STARTER

The Revelation

Write a poem with a structured rhyme scheme, using this as the title.

Revelation

Burdened.

Burdened with the weight of your worries

Burdened with the way your mood flurries

Burdened with the weight of your schemes

Burdened by the weight of my own dreams

Yet here i sit,

All dressed up in a nice outfit

Fully prepared for meeting you again

Was i fully sure when?

Knees to my chest as i question my being,

Am i fully seeing?

This girl before me was not the one i knew,

Tears running down her face as i hand her a tissue

Snot, tears, coughs, sniffles and sneezes break out around the room,

And i almost forget about your impending doom.

Achoo.

Achoo in the wind that blows west,

Where the sun don't rise,

Where i lay on your chest.

Achoo in the grass that sways south,

Where the leaves dont wither,

Where i kiss you on the mouth.

Achoo in the chill of the north,

Where the heat doesn't show,

Where i say no to a forth.

Achoo in the trees that creek east,

Where the forests are damp,

Where i saw you were deceased.

I didn't know it then,

Didn't know how or when.

Didnt understand who or how,

Only knew what and now.

Time moved slow,

My mind foggy as the ground set with snow.

Winter rolled around,

Summer passing in a growl.

Memories lost in photos i wasn't in,

Each picture sent straight to the bin.

I watch as i burn the paper rotten,

I wasn't left out, simply forgotten.

Or was it too awkward to talk to the girl with the dead friend?

It's not normal,

For kids to die so young,

For adults to move on so fast

While the people who loved them mourn forever through their distant past.

No one is there to comfort the little kids who lost their greatest friend,

So in the end,

The darkness creeps in.
