“Party, sex, and drugs… what a night!” Only Rosy could smile while puking into a bush.
“It’s basically every night for you,” I muttered. “Let’s get home before you end up sleeping in those bushes.”
“Only if we get food first,” she slurred, striking a superhero pose — but it was clear dragging her home was the less humiliating option.
We were only a few blocks away, and the fresh air might be good for her.
“As our lovely mothers always say, there’s food at home — and you desperately need water and a bed.”
“Whatever, Buzz Kill,” she rolled her eyes and marched ahead; I just prayed she wouldn’t start dancing — the embarrassment might kill me.
At the porch stood a festive, tall, sculpted-by-God delivery guy, holding a pizza box like he’d been summoned by hunger itself.
“Oh, you’re hot — but your costume? Kinda lame… are you a homeless guy?” Rosy darted a wide eye lookat at me, realizing the insult behind her words, then clumsily stumbled inside, calling, “I ordered pizza AND mozzarella sticks — be a sweetheart and tip him!”
“Sorry about her,” I said, fumbling with my purse as I met the man’s icy blue eyes — confident, and calm.
“Maybe on a night like this… it can,” he breathe, and before I could move, pain consumed me; The man before me just smiling, the confidence in those eyes twisting into lust, then anger- a man with a demon inside. All that remained was blood. Then, darkness.
