POEM STARTER
Submitted by Cheyenne King
Describe a moment in life which seems to last forever.
You could write this as a poem or story, or as a descriptive paragraph.
Morning Sermon
“Turn with me to chapter three
Of the holy book second Timothy”
The flip of pages
Taps of fingers on phones
I wonder what is cooking for lunch at home
“Don’t be a lover of money, but of God”
“Amen” I say, but I’m starting to nod
I try to listen as the preacher says more
But the person behind me is starting to snore
The snoring stops, I’m assuming that Reese
Has woken his brother—for now at least
I sketch on some paper
A dragon
A sword
“Avoid such people, thus says the Lord.”
The volume rises, It’s getting intense
But so are my daydreams I’m beginning to wince
And then my ears tingle
A familiar snore
I guess I can’t blame him, I too get bored
The snoring stops then continues
Not much time in between
I look at the time
It’s not yet 11:15!
It’s a moment in time
But a moment so long
I could write this poem into a full length song
