A Dandelions Story

Wherever there is light the flowers will find it. Of all the species to survive, Connie never would’ve guessed dandelions. Somehow they were immune to the poison. Connie doesn’t know how or why. Her parents didn’t know when they were alive, even M3, a robot, can’t figure it out.

The clouded sky and thick air suffocated trees, grass, and shrubs (if the toxins didn’t get to them first.) However, dandelions stayed firmly rooted to the ground. They were both immune to the toxins in the air and able to live off of the faint light from the sun.

Nowadays, 80 years after the earth was poisoned, the dandelions are a symbol of survival and peace. The few remaining humans use it to show others they are safe to trade with.

_I suppose they weren’t ever really barren weeds, after all. _

Connie would never know a world without the toxins in it. A lot of the people alive today won’t either. She doesnt think any of them know how or why dandelions survive though. Somehow, they do. Somehow they’re able to.

Somehow someway.

_ That doesn’t really matter though, does it? The how and the why. Though intriguing, what really matters is that we are where we are. The dandelions survived. Theres no going back to find out exactly how the toxins work, only forward to find out how to get rid of them._

Maybe the humans alive today are a bit like the dandelions.

(Thanks for reading. I didn’t really like how this turned out but I may make it a series. It’s from the same world as a book I’m writing, and though I may post similar writings I will not post any direct excerpts to avoid plagiarism and stuff.

Also how has my last short story been 16 weeks ago that’s literally insane 😭

Have a good day guys)
