POEM STARTER
Submitted by Cassandra Elliot 🌹
Write a poem or short story that embodies the feeling of being chosen last.
Tell Me
I step up to the podium
But fall off of the stage all too soon
Tried to conform to perfect meter
But it sounded like a rusty tune.
So instead of stepping up now
I step down
I let others take the stage now
I won't be let down.
Is it humble to hate the self?
NO! I hear a scream
I let others go first
So that I don't hurt
But I want so bad to be in the spotlight
I want so bad to be seen
Is that prideful? Is that bad?
Is it inherent? Is it inherited?
I don't know, I hear a soft whisper
Cold and silenced
But so
So desperate
I think everyone wants to be seen
To be acknowledged
To feel like your work MEANS something to someone other than you
I think that's what it is
But I don't know
I'm so young
I don't know if I'm depressed or dramatic
Maybe it's a little bit of both
But screw it
I am a good writer!
Not because I'm good at writing
But because I have something to say
And guess what?
I can sing, too!
I make mistakes sometimes, but
I've got a great voice
Another thing-
I've got a great, scientific mind
I'm curious about everything
And I love to learn
But I know all that already-
I don't know you.
Tell me, you last-picked, behind-the-scenes,
Who are you?
Tell me everything you've been trying to hide
I want so bad to know
Don't let them put you in a box
Let your skills be shown!
This is a really good poem portraying what it feels like to be chooses last ITS VERY GOOD and you deserve way more credit for this
