WRITING OBSTACLE
Write a description of the feeling of drifting off to sleep.
You could use metaphorical or poetic language, or you could use comparisons and contrast to describe this feeling.
Insomnia
Lately it’s been like this,
Lying on the bed
Staring into the screen
3 a.m pasts and my finger tips tapping away freely in my hand
Holding my phone and thinking of past years and moments and mistakes
I watch the clock, the minutes the hours
My alarm counts me down till when I need to be awakened for the next day
My thoughts roam freely in the night
And I enjoy writing since it’s the perfect time
But my body is getting heavier and heavier
And my eye lids get softer and softer
My breath slows down a second at a time
It becomes blurrier and blurrier
and then
My hands weaken
It gets a bit chilly so I go under the covers quickly
Put away my phone for the night
And charge it automatically into the socket without a second glance at it
I sleep awake a bit more and stare at the ceiling with eyes wide opened
And then I drift away without hesitation
Where I start dreaming until it becomes
deeper and deeper and more and more visible
Fast asleep and out like a light
To regain my strength so I can write again for the next night
And repeating it over and over the next and following days
Because the nighttime for me is where I can rejuvenate and have a fun lonely time
