POEM STARTER
Write a descriptive poem which portrays a busy city.
You could use metaphors, imagery, and appeal to the senses, to really capture the feel of a city.
A Street Show
A busy city is a big street show
Vast, entertaining, full of life in different ways
Being full of so many things
So many people walking
Often trying to hurry up
Going somewhere
Doing something
From going to work
Finding a new job
Buying something brand new
Renting something real old
Getting candy
Getting tools
Getting clothes
Getting jewels
Getting drinks
Getting whatever
Doing dancing
Doing writing
Doing singing
Doing acting
Doing texting
Doing talking
Doing parties
Doing whatever
Besides all the people
All going through their own lives
There are all the vehicles coming
All the cars
All the taxis
All the buses going
All of them honking
All of them squealing
All of them rumbling
All of them screeching to a halt
Whenever a stop light just so happens to appear
All the fire trucks
And all the police cars blaring away
Besides all the vehicles
All going through the city
There are all the buildings
So many
So bright
So colorful
All the food being eaten
All out in public
From bagels
To slices of pizza
To sandwiches
To chips
To their wonderful taste
To their wonderful smell in the air
Even besides that
There are all the things that people have
From holding their suitcases
Their canes
Their bags
Their bottles
Their phones
Their umbrellas
Their notebooks
And so much more
There is so much happening
There is so much present
There is so much in a busy city
Afterall, a busy, really busy city
It’s a big street show
