POEM STARTER
Using twelve stanzas, write a poem about each month of the year.
A Year In Reverse
What have I done? I hate that song. What has Celine done?
I have to remember to give thanks for all I’m thankful for; but what am I thankful for?
I’m thankful I can be a slut or a penguin or a superhero
For my best friends’ theme party, I can be anything I want.
Until school starts back up and I have to choose to be someone everyone can tolerate.
Why can’t I just be myself? But then again, would wearing a bikini really be the end of me?
This is the year I’ll get over my body image issues and wear a bikini. I promise. I have to at least try.
But do I really have to? School wraps up soon and I can just ghost everyone afterwards.
The clouds and rain have come out again, I’m struggling to stay upbeat.
But I think I need vitamin D pills ‘cause the snowy days are too long.
If I have a boyfriend, I wouldn’t feel this way; I’d have someone’s hand to hold on cold nights.
My resolution this year is to find a boyfriend.
