STORY STARTER
Submitted by Ed Rowe
Write from the perspective of a family puppy adapting to a newborn baby coming home for the first time.
Doll
My floppy ears, heard the family car coming home today
It seems its not food, but a baby is moving in they say
All this fuss in the house, from the ladies ‘oh a first girl’
We can dress her up, in satan pink with her hair in curl
I ask myself, that it sounds like a doll that I see on TV
Maybe that is what, they are whispering about to me
All was peaceful, after my dogs breakfast and a nap
Then the door opened, and my human with his cap
He was holding something, smaller then my dog bed
It was moving in his bundled arms, fuzzy hair on its head
The once protected eyes, and mouth gave out a loud wail
I scattered across the floor, like a skater and fell on my tail
I quickly scampered away, without looking back not even maybe
They went out to the screened porch, forgot me and not the baby
