WRITING OBSTACLE

Record a scientists’ notes on a certain thing, place, or person.
What kind of style would best represent this, and how can you tell a story through note form?
Vibratory Pulses: A Field Report on Emotional Compromise
Interstellar Ethological Log
Researcher: Tharnex-7
Stardate: 5920.04.77
Planet: Terra (Designation: 3rd from Sol)
Subject: Small Furred Quadruped - Classification Pending
Local name overheard: “Kitten”
Terra Species: Feline
Size: 1.2 standard units in length
Age: Juvenile
Behavioral Observation: Emitting rhythmic vibratory pulses while curled on a soft surface
Status: Mildly alarming
Entry 1 – Discovery
Subject located nestled atop a stationary human.
Initial concern: creature appears to be malfunctioning.
Thoracic cavity emits low-frequency oscillations at approximately 25–150 Hz.
Oscillations are continuous, rising in intensity when physical contact is applied by the human.
First hypothesis: Subject attempting subsonic threat display.
Protective gear applied.
Entry 2 – Reassessment
Subject exhibits no hostility. In fact, its ocular orbs narrow in what appears to be pleasure.
It remains limp. Its digits occasionally twitch but do not engage in self-defense.
Hypothesis update: Vibrations may be a self-calibration process or primitive healing response.
Cross-referencing with Terran databases suggests humans find this behavior comforting - inexplicably.
Entry 4 – Attempted Replication
Attempted to simulate the vibratory pattern using personal thoracic speaker.
Result: Subject increased oscillation output and repositioned itself closer to source.
It may interpret mimicry as social bonding or compliance.
Possibly a primitive leadership test?
Further study required.
Subject placed directly on my exo-suit. I am... being used as furniture.
Entry 6 – Unsolicited Emotional Response
Despite intentions to remain unbiased, I experienced a sensation akin to melting upon prolonged exposure to Subject’s vibration.
Unknown biochemical or psychic interference suspected. I made a noise. I believe it was a giggle.
Will consult ship medic.
Entry 9 – Catastrophic Cuteness Event
Subject spontaneously flopped upside-down. Revealed abdominal segment, and continued rhythmic oscillations.
Instinct suggested this was a combat trap. However, Subject made no attack attempt.
Human observer whispered “he’s trusting you.”
Emotional override initiated. I gently touched the abdominal fluff.
Subject grasped my digit with soft mini-claws. I am compromised.
I would die for it.
Final Entry (for now):
Purring is a vibration-based control system designed to incapacitate higher-order beings with affection.
This kitten has restructured my threat hierarchy.
All future missions must prepare against this weapon of mass disarmament.
I will protect it.
I have named it Zip.
It sleeps now. I dare not move. I am what they call "nap trapped"
Mission postponed indefinitely.
End Log
Emotional Status: …warm.
Query: Is this what humans call love?
