“Im not sure you know this Pluto, but once you turn of age on X8 you are sent as a explorer to a surrounding planet. Tomorrow is my birthday and i’ll be sent out. We don’t have a clear directive. Explore. Record. Report.” I say while petting his soft fur. “If we are to come across anyone we are not suppose to make contact. Most planets are either dead or are living with mutants who survived the solar explosions”

Leaning down to whisper in his ear “I truly do hope I meet some tho, the stories they must hold. I have so many questions”

Sighing I stand up and pat down my dress to remove any wrinkles. “My ceremony is coming up and my planet will be chosen. I’m not sure i’ll get to see you again Pluto, not everyone makes it back, but if I do i’m sure i’ll have plenty more stories for you. Lei is going to come by and pick you up this evening. You’ll be staying with her until I return. ”

Pluto purs and rubs his head against my hand as if saying goodbye. He then jumps down from the ledge and trots over to his bed, walking in circles to lie down and sleep.

I grab my supplies, walking out the door excited but scared for what will come.
