Moonshine and Moonlight

A Faint Flicker Of Time
The fire waltzed through the air,
Dancing toward the moonlit sky
To the soft rhythm of a heartfelt song
Strummed on a worn-down,
Scratched and scuffed
Acoustic guitar.
We reveled in its flaming glow,
Singing out of key and off-rhythm
Swinging in long, languid strides,
Performing dance moves that
No one dared to show
Without the influence of
The open, half-empty bottle of
Freshly-brewed moonshine.
Life was simple and enjoyable,
Even if only for a faint flicker of time.
And so we danced
Until the melodic buzz
Of plucked strings
Stopped humming
And our carefree voices
Shouting lyrics into the night
Subsided.
The party gave way to
Peaceful snoring
And the quiet crackle of the fire
As it reached for the moon above.
