Why do I defend you?

Why do I come up with reasons

that you shouldn’t hate yourself?

Why do I justify everything you do?

Why do I push down all my feelings

for your sake?

Why do I even try?

Nothing I do ever comforts you.

(This is in my perspective with someone who I really love but they can’t take in someone trying to help them. I don’t blame this person because what they feel is valid and I understand them. It’s just frustrating when some people can’t be helped because they don’t want to be.)
