some of us survived the mass expulsion of spores that covered the globe, killing nearly all living things. Like all things in nature there are always the outliers. 

I am one of those i guess unfortunately. He’s right that I’m doomed for sure. It’s been a fun few years staying nearly wherever i want. The best part is the cars. As long as you can find somewhere to charge the battery, there is a nearly endless option to drive. Nearly killed myself driving a couple times. I seriously debated it a few times to be honest.

its lonely. 

Ive run across a few people but our moments are fleeting. Even with so few people around i still dont feel the need to stick around with someone that just doesn’t click. Like an old friend that you can pick up right where you left off. Not like i had many before the bloom, but Chad was my dude.

he would have loved this new world honestly. See the spores didnt kill people as fast as they expected. Air currents, temperature and nearness to large blooms made a massive difference. The humid air of the south almost made us feel like we might make it. 

The spores had other plans. No one expected new plants to land and be adapted to the environment. Like the AI of plants it seemed to learn at an alarming rate. I watched him slough away. The agony in his eyes and really the fear haunts me. 

The seemingly asymptomatic people continued to dwindle over the years till it eventually stopped. I think the plants rely on its host for adaptation but if you can’t kill something you can’t spread. Ive started to see less and less plants. Wonder if they are now going dormant? Maybe planning to come back and finish us off in a couple thousand years. Assuming we ever come back from this. Maybe the earth was fed up with us and sent the spawns of the earth.
