She sat across the table from him utterly disgusted. He was chewing with his mouth open and she could see pieces of chewed meat stuck between his teeth.
She’s definitely asking for a refund. She couldn’t believe her freaking luck.
This was her 11th date already and the dates had gone from bad to worse.
“ So what’s your life philosophy?” He asked her inbetween his bites.
She just stared at him incredulous. Unable to actually comprehend what he had just said.
Yes, she was getting a refund.
“My life philosophy is to always say yes. To everything. Because you never know what unique experiences may come your way from doing so”. He yammered on. He didn’t even wait for her to respond. That seems to be the theme of her dates. Centaurs who were incredibly self-centered.
She needs to work on herself. She was the common denominator so something must be wrong with her. But she was attracted almost exclusively to Centaurs. And she had spent almost all her fortune trying to find her soul-mate.
She had to use matchmaking services because centaurs did not exist in her world. Sometimes she had to cross five different realms for her dates. Their worlds did not intersect at all.
Years ago after centuries of research she finally found a witch who could brew a spell to help her realm travel.
Only her best friend knew about her obsession.
Before every date they would fawn over the image of her potential suitor.
After every disappointing date, they would both curse the suitor, sharing the same delusion that the next one will be “the one”.
So here she was at date number eleven.
She had to give him one due though, he was the most good looking one yet. It was the reason she had not disappeared yet. Usually she just used a vanishing spell to leave in the middle of the date.
She was looking for the perfect Centaur. The one with just the right proportion of horse to man.
The first date was laughable. He was basically a man, with just the ass and legs of a horse. She was so repulsed she didn’t even say hello.
There were a few dates there that were just horses with a man’s face.
As the number of dates she went on grew in number , she became increasingly exasperated.
Until tonight.
Here was the perfect centaur, physically.
But he was dumb as a bag of bricks.
So she spent the time sitting across from him, debating within herself if she could handle inane and boring conversations with him daily.
On the other hand, it was hard to find the perfect Centaur when you’re a fairy.
