I was just walking down the street

Having my purse over my shoulder

Until all of a sudden, I got hit

Punched in the face

By some random guy

Wearing black clothes and a black ski mask

He pushed me to the ground

Kicked me in the face

Kept punching

Kept kicking

As I kept bleeding

And kept getting bruised

Until I lied there

Unconscious and beaten up

On the hard, cold sidewalk

Without my purse

I was taken to the hospital the next day

I lied on my bed

Wondering what I could have done

What I should have done

Then I thought about what I had to do

After I was back to my original state

My bruises healed, my scars closed

I didn’t want to be the loser, but instead be the winner
