WRITING OBSTACLE
Craft a story where each sentence begins with the successive letter of the alphabet, starting with A.
The story can be about whatever you like, but try to make it coherent and logical as you carefully choose words to start each sentence.
Everyman
Alpha men always seem to lead the pack because culturally we value extroversion, dominance, charisma and confidence — this is what we expect from a successful man — but not every man can be a natural born leader. Beta men, conversely, tend to follow the leader, make little to no fuss, and have no need to lead, but instead happily accept and obey those men who can and willingly subjugate themselves to their feminine counterpart’s needs. Clearly, these are two very opposite types of men, but it takes both to satisfy the needs of a society that’s more than half women.
Delta men are conspicuously inconspicuous, driven by the work — not the glory, and due to their modesty don’t attract much attention. Everybody knows that average kind of guy who just seems to slip under the radar. Females may not notice them, but they make up the vast majority of men. Gamma men are introverted, sensitive and aloof types. He is the lone wolf, rebel or social outcast who doesn’t follow the rules. Into his own thing, a gamma can be an obsessive-compulsive stalker-narcissist but also dreamy, creative and innovative. Just when you think you have him pinned down, he will surprise you. Kind of a mystery, gammas tend to play it cool until they know you’re in the game, playing right along. Love is the game, of course, and though an Alpha will take you to higher places and Gammas will keep you on your toes, Betas and Deltas are much surer bets as reliable worshippers of women.
Meta men are a new, exciting breed of testosterone shaped not-so-shy guys. Not to be confused with Alphas, they are true innovators on a transcendent, global and technological scale. Omega men are quite opposite of Metas and most other men — self-sufficient, introverted oddballs — they don’t try to fit in at all at chasing women or success. Pariahs by nature, the Omega man is happiest when he’s rejected, but can be nerdy and needy in the bedroom. Quite often independent like a Gamma man — but much more submissive — Omegas can be great caretakers and homemakers. Rest assured, once you win the loyalty of an Omega man, he will forever be your favorite pet.
Sigma men are tough but tender — the introverted version of an Alpha — they are smart, self-guided and confident in their abilities. This is the kind of guy who will ask you out for dinner, surprise you with tickets to a show, and let you decide if your dessert comes with cherries. Unless you’re just as self-assured, he will whisk you away to a private island before you can say “boo!” Vulnerability is not his greatest asset — in fact he can be shielded and manipulative — but he will make sure you have fun!
Whether you’re the type of woman who likes dominant, powerful men or gentle, creative men, these are some the characters and characteristics you might find yourself attracted to. Xbox enthusiasts, xeriscape designers and xylophone players make up our final fantasy flight of fine fellows. Zeta males are the last ones on our list of manly archetypes (perhaps saving the best for last); super-chill, non-conformist, creative feminists who value personal happiness over all other measures of success — and what woman (or man) doesn’t love a true artist in the kitchen, boardroom or bedroom?
