The scene opens with your protagnoist paddling hard down the river, desperately trying to outrun their pursuers.

Lost Time

The current runs quickly and slowly simultaneously. The black, stinging liquid represents all perceptions of time. Some believe they have too little, some believe too much. Time can hit you like a train, or trap you in an inescapable cage.

I used to think I was a prisoner of time. Every day was slower than the last; a bunch of time wasted. I’d had a plethora of time compared to people I knew. People that I thought surely deserved the time that I had been granted instead.

But I ran out of time. Time was slow until it wasn’t. Now I find myself in the River Stix, desperately paddling my way out. I paddle as if I don’t have all of eternity to spend down here. I’ve already run out of time, who’s to say it won’t happen again?

The forces and the guards chase after me. I’m sure I’m not the first person to try and get more time.

The river turns thick, and I am unable to pace anymore. My life that was lost to time plays before my eyes. It once felt fast and alive, but it grew sluggish and pale.

My time seemed to die far before I ended up here.
