The Plan
βI really canβt stand you.β
βThen why are you still listening to me?β
βBeacause,β I paused, βI donβt have a choice. And Neither. Do. You.β
Xavier kept a stubborn expression on his face, but he new I was right.
βWell, then,β he chirp as the edges of his mouth curved forming a smile, βI guess itβs time to set our plan in motion.β
He smirked then let out a small chuckle as I rolled my eyes in annoyance. This is just my luck. Bad luck.
Xavier and I walked along a small hidden path in the woods that led to trapped door that barricaded a dirt hole in the ground.
Once we arrived at the trapped door, I unlatched a rusty golden latch allowing us to crawl into the hole.
It was dark, damp, and annoyingβ well, the annoying part was on Xavierβs behalf, gosh I canβt stand himβafter a few minutes of crawling around in the claustrophobic tunnel, I came to a sudden stop. We have arrived.
The light created my skin with a warm touch. I slowly and carefully made my way out of the hole, which had led to a beautiful mountain surrounded by nothing but trees and nature.
βAir sweet air!β Xavier shouted a little too loudly, βI CAN BREATHE AGAIN!!!β Xavier threw his arms up into the sky and spun around once before falling onto the ground.
βYou know, Elsββ
βDonβt call me that.β
βYou know, Eleanor, I was getting kinda tired of hearing you complain about getting dirt under your nails the whole way here.β
I rolled my eyes. We didnβt have time for this.
βCome on,β I pointed my finger at a small mountain cabin, β We canβt be late.β
