POEM STARTER

Submitted by em_andherbooks

Write a poem that describes the longing of a reader who falls hopelessly in love with a fictional character.

Far Away Galaxy

Somewhere far away in a galaxy,

I met your golden eyes—

Like crystals shining between the stars,

Like a milky way in disguise.

We danced across red-dusted moons,

You laughed, and time stood still,

I flew a ship safe between you arms,

Through the hush where pretend feels real.

With every page turn in my hands,

A new adventure begins.

Me and you,

Until the end

Through star dust where darkness wins.

My love,

I wish I called it a happy end,

Wish we flew a ship.

Somewhere off in a fairyland.

I wish you’d known,

I wish you stayed with me.

But you’re made of stars and celluloid,

Just out of reach.

And I—

I’m here alone

With nothing else,

But a book with memories.
