Watching you at night brings me such joy.

Your terrified contorted face as you scan the room for me. I’m certainly here, but you can’t see with mortal eyes. And when finally settle, and lay back down into your sheets, that’s when I’ll strike again. Knocking on walls, footsteps down the halls, or just a noise or two above you, the slightest noise will throw you into a frenzy. The childish urge to crawl into your parents room washes over you.

When you close your eyes and try to calm your rushing heartbeat, don’t tell yourself that it’s just in your head. We both know it’s not. So don’t lie to yourself next time.

When you think you are alone?

When you think it is all in your head?

Wrong.

When you feel watched?

Absolutely correct.

Go ahead, lie down and wish you would have gone to bed sooner.
