POEM STARTER
You are out walking when you see a person sitting alone on a bench under a Willow tree, crying. Write a poem about them.
This could be written as though you are observing the person but not interacting, or as though you have approached the person and offered to help.
Oh Weeping Willow
What was his name the one I saw there
Alone, filled with sorrow and despair
For he was old and tired and scared
Under the willow tree that he spent his afternoon there
For I was watching
Curious to see
What he was thinking about
What he was looking to find
Ripping grass and throwing rocks
It looked like he wanted to find some peace
He was holding a picture
Of a woman in it
Was it his wife was he a widower
Heart broken and all alone
It made me want to cry
That sight to see
For he loved someone
And that is anybody can see
Was it a memory with the willow tree
Does it remind him or her and there memories
Together happy and well
With joy and happiness
Does he miss the old times of her when he was holding her hand
He grabs a handkerchief and blows inside it
Tears streaming down now and one fell on it
The tear on the picture stood there
Falling down her face
He folded the handkerchief and walked away
