Do What it Takes to Survive

“Never trust a survivor until you know what they did to survive.” That’s what I’d tell the woman standing in front of me, the woman watching me with fear in her eyes.

“Oh my God! Are you alright, what happened to you?” She is borderline screaming as she pulls me, the little, defenseless, girl with hair dyed red with blood. “Please—I need help ma’am, I’m-I’m dying.” I watch her as she ferociously nods her head, over and over. She attempts to call emergency services, I told her I’ve already called, a lie. I lied because she can’t know, and they can’t find me, she doesn’t know that I’m a survivor or the game. The game that she knows nothing about, she won’t understand why I have to do…what I must do. Out of us all I survived, if I don’t comply with their wishes—there will be no survivor, there will be no one to tell the tale. That’s why she must die— I must kill her. With her, my five kills are complete, and we’re free. The people will know our story. So please don’t look at me like i’m the bad guy, because I’m not…I’m just a survivor.
