POEM STARTER

“Clouds cover the skies, rain pulls at your eyes,

but nothing hurts as much as little words turned lies'

Passing Storm

Cloudy days,

Unwarranted grays,

That swarm the skies

And the hair in my braid

Too young to complain

About growing older [with you]

Too old to retain

The coldness you shoulder

I see droplets in storms

Your heart through your faults

Our palpable love

That I bear like a cross

But nothing hurts so much

As your little hollow words

Now wet, and growing rust

Words, I once kept inside

Stored in my chest

Like fireflies

Dissolved into lies

Rain pulls down the sky

With it, the salt from my eyes

Angry cotton clouds disperse

In meloncholy spurts

Until blue skies peek through

And my heart once just as blue

Starts to peel away from you

Slowly,

as all delicate things do

And the wind bites my cheeks

And restarts starts my chest

Blowing all thoughts of you

From my head

Evaporating

Until only flowers are left
