You know that feeling of plunging?

Deep deep deep

Except not into water but into your brain?

For me it goes like this:

I go to bed and can't sleep

So I start imagining.

I build a whole world in my wakefulness

and fill it with a fictional romance

Butterflies in my stomach and fire in my nethers.

Then I'll notice that narrative slip

into chaos and quirkiness

and that's when it comes to feed.
