Write an etiological myth in the form of a poem.

An etiological myth, or an origin myth, explains how something came to be the way that it is today.

Lost

They say it began in the age before tumble-dry,

when gods still meddled in the laundry,

and mortals feared static.


Argyle, minor deity of pattern and warmth,

wove his devotion into a single pair

diamonds aligned like prayers,

a geometry of care and cold mornings.


But the Fates were mischievous.

One cycle too many through the Whirlpool of Time,

and one sock slipped the spindle,

vanished into that...

The Icarus

The story of Icarus is very interesting

and also very well known.

Falling, falling, and falling some more.

Yet, The Fool’s story is yet to have truly grown.


Daedalus warned him of the danger,

yet he never listened.

The bliss was unimaginable,

the melting wax on his body glistened.


Feathers floated from the sky,

reminders of Icarus’s failure.

Even though he knew he was about to die,

the soothing ...

Humans were still being built

Century after century

The ones who’ll survive the storms

Smart enough to pick

What nots poison

Will pass on their traits

For a stronger generation


The gods had fun watching them

Cupid especially so

While they did not know language yet

Love was instinctive

Needed for primal pleasure


Often he’d see couples

Just merely look at each other

Then they’d make a baby right t...
