Writing Prompt

STORY STARTER

Write a story with an unexpected twist.

Consider the length of your story. It does not need to reach the max word limit to include a twist. One sentence can be enough. Consider, too, that a twist is not always a revelation, but can be subtle.

My One

I don’t think I have it in me anymore

The patience that made me, me

Was the same patience

The same understanding

That made me weak

That made me a fool

And I pity myself for trusting

For believing in you

Because you did what you do

You came and went

Like the breeze

But not before you knocked the wind out of me

And brought me down to my knees

Because you see sorry is just a word

When you r...

May You Feel My Pain

Bitter…

It’s not a good look.

But I still licked my lips…

And took another sip as I partook.

And I didn’t want to be…

So angry, so irate.

But there was all that give…

And boy did you like to take.

Every last piece of me was yours…

Maybe that was the issue.

I put to much of me into this…

And that’s why there are so many tear stained tissues....

May You Stop Betraying Everyone

I hold my breath…

How could I expect you to change?

With all that give and take…

I’m afraid your honor you displayed…

Don’t try to hide it…

Don’t try to save face.

You know what you’ve done.

You know how you betray....

Maybe You Suck

I could lie

And say I love the way that you do

But there is no such thing as a simple truth

And you only come around when you have a need

That needs fulfilling

And for some reason

That’s something I can do

But what do you do for me

Aside from betrayal

In every form

From my mind, to my heart, to my body

Regaining trust isn’t a simple thing

I love you

You used me

A tale as old as time

But I...

Maybe I’ll Be Vindicated

I feel a rage

It’s within me

Taking no prisoners

Feeling so vindictive

It’s such a strange thing

Because I never really had it in me

But something’s changed

And now I cringe

Whenever I hear your name...

Maybe I’m Nothing

Her and me

Wrapped around your fingers

What a tragedy

One always just a little more deserving

Tell me

Did you mean to hurt me?

Was it intentional?

Cause I can’t tell

Or maybe I just want to avoid reality

Because you really meant a lot to me

But words deceive

And your body and the things you do

They tell me the truth

I mean nothing to you....

Maybe You Hurt Me

Do you ever think about that dress?

How about the back seat?

Or the taste of my tongue on your lips?

Cause it haunts me.

And I don’t know why I hold on to such foolish things.

Still tending to your hoodie.

Like it’s supposed to mean something…

Even now after every thing.

Because you don’t even miss me.

Can’t even say that you do.

Because your actions let all your true colors through.

Maybe I ...

Maybe In Another Life

Let’s speak on being enough

And you making me believe that I was

When I wasn’t

And I don’t think I ever was

Your words doing something to me

But your actions burning me more harsher then the sun

Now all I see is red

The anger flows through me

Turns me into someone that I don’t want to be

Why can you mean what you say

You like your games

But I don’t have time to play...

3 years wasted

A moment in between my thighs…

Made way for the hidden truths,

To unravel all of your lies.

You’re vile…

Disgusting…

A human with no empathy,

What a tragic thing.

Lit me up,

Just to dowse out my flame.

Don’t you feel anything?

On to the next one,

Time and time again.

Were we ever really “friends”?

Sick to my stomach

With how sweet the lies tasted…

Even sicker still,

Of all the time that I was...
