Figured maybe if I write it all down, the words that consume my mind won't drown my soul.

Party Rant

SM

3 min read

Why am I here? It was fine an hour ago, before the music, before everyone showed up, before the party officially started. An hour ago I was helping to set up, placing sandwiches around the plate to create a visually enticing array, setting cupcakes on the stand and making sure the decorations draped perfectly to frame the sun as it set. Then the doorbell rang.

Someone I've never seen before walk...

I Am The Moon

I am the moon in a starless sky

Waning and fading into the night

The inky vastness clouding my mind

Until I, too, disappear....

Lonely Up There

SM

1 min read

Do you think the sun gets lonely up there?

Atop his thrown above the clouds

Looking down on the people where

His shadow cannot be found?

Bringer of light and warmth and day

He moves across the skies alone

Sharing himself along the way

Searching for a place called home.

Do you think the moon gets jealous at night?

Surrounded by the countless stars

Who do not beg nor borrow light

From a foreig...

The Path

SM

1 min read

The trodden path lay soft below

Years of travel has it seen

Where footsteps leave traces hollow

Between misty fields of green

Twists and turns doth give way

To magics rarely we comprehend

Trodden path on fog bound day

In plain sight there is no end

Through the field and toward the wood

Carving between the leafy shoals

Adventures wind where once we stood

Trodden path worn by avid souls

Mirror Mirror

SM

Mirror mirror on the wall

Show me myself before the fall.

Reflection standing there of mine

Tell me when will I feel fine?

I look, I see, I dawn my mask,

Smiling all day long becomes a task.

Mirror mirror in front of me

Why won't my mind just let me be?

I long to find myself within

But there is pain behind each grin.

Hide yourself, your pain, your truth.

Honesty is best, unless uncouth.

Smile

SM

It had been raining nonstop for days. The local news station had called it a 100-year event it had rained so much. Everyone in town could be seen sprinting to and from their cars or dashing into the shops that lined the streets, splashing passersby with a sort of reckless self absorption. But he didn't mind the rain like they did. The soft pitter patter of the drops as they crashed from the heaven...

Alone

Icy winds blow through the night

Abundant fur to warm the soul

Guided by the dancing lights

That shine the way on ground below

Snowfelled blankets all around

Beneath the ice a river's flow

Lasting paw prints make no sound

Forevermore left in the snow

A sweeping tail, strong and swift

Big eyes and ears and teeth to have

Yet still more snowflakes adrift

A yearning for some warmth and grass

Leaving

SM

The car rocked as she shut the door. She didn't mean to close it so hard, but her emotions got the best of her. The last few weeks had been a whirlwind of events leading to this moment. The accident, the move, the second accident, the ups and downs of a fresh relationship (though she did not yet recognize the toxicity)....

As she turned the key the engine roared to life with such force that the fr...
