Want

Eloise Pennington

1 min read

I want to feel, I want to know

I want to love, I want to grow

I want to sing, I want to win

I want to cry, I want to sin

I want to dance, I want to walk

But ever turn is a roadblock

I want to turn out of this maze

But it all is such a haze

How did I get here?

Where do I go?

I want to yell, I want to scream

Please tell me this is but a dream...

Tears

Eloise Pennington

1 min read

I cannot help to cry

In times of joy

In times of sorrow

In times of pain

But mostly I cry from exhaustion

When the day has been too much

When the words just cut too deep

I cant stop the tears from falling

The tears reminde me I’m alive...

Turn off the phone,

Shut off the light.

Be with yourself if only for one night...

Did I?

Eloise Pennington

1 min read

Did I cross a line when I told you to stop?

When the joke wasn’t funny, when I wasn’t the laugh?

Did I cross a line when I wouldn’t comply?

When I would tell you what you wanted to hear?

Did I cross a line when I opened my mouth?

Or was I simply sticking up for myself?

The line is long gone, I’m already here

I will not be erased by your fear...

Why

Eloise Pennington

1 min read

What color is the wind?

Why do lobsters mate for life?

What makes the flowers bloom?

What makes bees able to fly?

Who made the afternoon?

How do the seasons know to change?

Who called them “stars”?

Of all the questions I wish to know

And yet I’d still ask

“Why aren’t you here”...

Rain

Eloise Pennington

1 min read

Rain

Falling

Slowly now

I stay in bed

Sheets engulf my thoughts

Pitter patter lulls me

Back to sleep as I relax

The rain has put my mind at ease

My emails can wait another day

My job today is to listen to rain...

Yet

Eloise Pennington

1 min read

You tell me I’m only a woman, yet I feel there’s more I can do

You tell me my dreams aren’t worth dreaming, yet stand as I fill up the room

You tell me I’m not worth the patience, yet watch as I conquer my fears

You tell me to keep my mouth shut, yet expect my listening ear

You show me I’m less than my peers, but watch me soar in my career

You try to break me, yet you only build me up

You push me...

Where Are you

Eloise Pennington

1 min read

Cold water feels warm when you’re freezing

Sunset feels light when it’s dark

How can my heart keep this beating

When we are thousands of miles apart

Money feels right when you’re winning

You made me feel right at home

But why do I wish to be feeling

Anything when I’m alone...
