Hi and hello are muddy now,

greetings littered with apathy,

streaked with blood.

The smog of bombs

suffocates my lungs

as I sip a morning coffee

laced with screaming babies

cut from dead wombs.

Your tea and biscuits

are mixed with the stains

of pretending justice is still clean.

Your dinner sits heavy

on a dirty dish

and even all the soap,

all the platitudes,

will never scrub away the scum....
