Every Saturday morning, as I walk the dogs down the beach, I spot a gaggle of ladies, in blue robes, chatting loudly and sipping from thermos.

I press my finger to my lips and halt my team with my left arm raised out, fingers splayed, palm facing them.


Footsteps fall silent.


Heavy breaths fill my ears.


We can feel the gentle trimmers of explosions in the distance.


One after the other.


Boom, boom, boom, BOOM.


I’m thrown into the air, my scream cut short, I land with enough force to loose my breath.

Another day of photographing dead bodies.


I move around to view her left hand through the lens.


Her nails are manicured, a plaster on her arm, a tailored suit jacket. She was cared for.


The camera shutter echos in the cold air.
