Vienna Card

It’s an odd sort of news to

find laying on the doorstep

“New life coming soon

dedication expected

Punnet right unknown”

you’re left with

an excited fear,

A shaking look to the

empty sun,

knowing your sky will have stars

oh so soon.

The fear will set in first you

don’t have the money

don’t have the space

don’t know the last thing about

trails of crumbs or playrooms.

Hope will blemish its smart eye...

i knew only nothing

on the day i was born

i rolled in the snow and

drank the nectar and

i think i was

clean

when i woke up

fog deeper in my head than

the first owners of this

are deep in the landfills

i knew nothing

a clean and empty slate

had i found a hand

i would’ve held it

i smiled

before the second eye opened

and i knew the world and my sister

I didn’t, of course

find a hand there with me

I...

Forgotten

Val

There is an instant

Millennia after the eye

Sweeps your wretched form

Where the pink moonlight

You missed in Tennessee

Seems to rip through clouds

Where you forget

On a second,

Deeper layer,

The lies you gave

And the light burns

Your dying skin away

But the clouds return

In their due time

They gather like the vultures

Over your sister’s carcass

And you are lost in their

Embrace again

Forgetti...

Oh (WIP)

Val

Oh

Well there’s

Flowers in the winter time

A a cold breeze in late June

My darling ain’t some glitzy queen

But she sure knows how to move

Yes an’ we ran away from Lafayette

Dreaming of Desolation Row

But telephones and graduation gowns

Greeted us wherever we’d go

So run me down

And let me remember

The things that hunt me now

As I run

It’s been nine months now, since I left Houston

Three since I ...

Hundred To One

Their skin against your skin

The fruit between your teeth

Forget about suits and ties

Buried deep underneath

You be reduced nothing

Fusing with their flesh

An instant to eternity

Where you forget to rest

The juice is on your chin now

You’re screaming for the band

And you feel you’d do anything

Slaughter at their command

The moment of communion

Draws venom from your slack jaws

An instant to etern...

Nothing Bile

There is a writhing tendril

Of frying oil ‘gainst the sky

It is wrapping ‘round your arms it seems

Ain’t it so easy to die?

To bite upon the little-death

And hide inside the dreams

Spoon-fed to you as minnow chum

By paper in its reams

Learn to love your mother

And com-mu-ni-ty

Forget how the organs sound

Against the last tree

But nothing

In your everything

Will get you nowhere...

Manifesto For Ithaca In C# Locrian

Val

There is a fog in the valley

‘Twixt Hellenic slopes

Wherein you lost your fear

As the skylark fled

Away from the sickening waters

And sludge

Of your saccharine prison

You walk to the fog

Of their endless blood

Knowing the sheer drop

Is within it

The worst is yet to come

O stranger kin

Yet stones mustn’t roll alone

For fog draws down

When the rolling stops

Within fog you see your joy

And I can se...

Going To None

Remember then

Back in ‘09

When the Brothers came to town?

And told us ‘bout

The hungry crowds

And showing them your doubt

They told us not

To run away

If we weren’t running to

I sat and dwelled

You ran away

You dance with Madeline

Now you see

You’ve been running

Since the days when I still knew you

When you still had me

And her and us

To come to when you fell

But you ran that night

You ran from...

Mounds Of Gold

Val

There’s a golden chandelier that rests

Above the old man’s body

On twenty-first

Where lovers waltz

Above the place he died

Nobody came

To take him away

‘Till they knocked the building down

So he’s resting

In the dirt

Where the chandelier spins round...

Keep It Down

Val

There’s a storm in a teacup

‘Cause you’re saying goodbye

And you don’t understand yet

What it means to fly

There’s a storm in a teacup

And the money’s on the wall

Just waiting for you to take it

If you’d just stop your fall

There’s a storm in a teacup

That he was drinking at the bar

You’re saying he might be the one

Even if you barely know him

There’s a storm in a teacup

The kid was holding as ...
