I don’t wanna loose my streak lol...

they say

an apple a day

keeps the doctor away

but what if I don’t want to...

Today I gave myself

permission

To be happy

I cracked open

The chains

That weighed on me

Used to like the way it hurt

because I thought

I deserved it

Now that I’ve got a taste

Joy is so much sweeter

I admit...

I planted a seed on my pillow

then watered it with my eyes

cuddled it with my fingertips

swallowed it like my pride

a game of hide and seek

but no one cares to find me

I did stand behind a wall

I didn’t know it would cave in

now I’m a living ghost

and no one knows

my anchor to reality

is faltering

goodbye now my pillow

the only one who ever listened...

I came to this country

I heard it was the land of the free

The same country

Enslaved, my people came

They fought for our freedom

while chained and whipped

They fought for this country

built and nurtured it

And after everything

All we’ve ever asked for

is equality

Our only revenge is our resiliency

But they fear us

So they kill us

Then call us the thugs?

Try they must, we shall not give u...

“Time waits for no one” my mom says

she’s right about a lot of things I’m afraid

but I don’t want to keep chasing time

and let these moments pass me by

I’m in no rush to finish

I want to treasure these minutes

that turns into hours, into days

into moments that quickly fades...

I find solace in the in-between

but for how long can I stay there?

making love on the edges?

tiptoeing the lines of what could be?

till how long

before I sober up?

till how long will I remain

buoyed in the in-between...
