a stranger appears

wearing the face of my love

i stare down into the blue sky

with distant stars

twinkling above my prone form

i feel the burn of salt and kiss of sand

my feet are clinging to the dock

music nothing but a body hum

we awaken the great wyrm

a father incensed by fate

i awaken to a day without you

to a summer with no baking

no velvet church pews and smiles

no hand holding, soft and safe

i awaken to a mother without her mother

a granddaughter who tries

attempts to fill her mothers halfway heart

that broke when you passed on

i awaken to the reality

that my mother will one day do the same

and when my daughters look to me

i hope i do not break too...

i have your anger

yet i have turned it into

a powerful voice...

i assumed my life

would account for more than death

Not so much a story but an idea; a misunderstanding leads to the genocide of an entire race. The main character dies and is given the chance to go back in time to fix the misunderstanding before it occurs. Instead, the main character ends up agreeing with the antagonist....
