Nervous

Wendy Moore

1 min read

Crouching in anticipation,

The rope taut my gloved hands

I lean my weight over the cliff face.

Beneath me, the eighty feet

To the ground.

That first jump suspended between

Air and earth, my hands slipping

Giving me the slack that propels

Me along with gravity,

Towards the ground.

Two more leaps

It was over, solid ground

Beneath my feet. From nervous to elated

In three leaps....

Left Field

Wendy Moore

1 min read

Left field, always left field.

The catcher, the pitcher

Selected ahead,

The skill positions of the infield,

Then the last few positions,

Right field, center field,

Finally the two captains look

At you and the other kid.

A skinnier than you girl

On my wish list now, no simplicity

There, more generalized and simple

Health for those I know,

Peace to all, sh...

Better Than This

Wendy Moore

1 min read

Starting to shiver from the rain

The fugitive figure looks at the shape

It has to be better than the last refuge,

Full of scorn and the threat of a raised fist.

What promise does a head lain

Here in a corner of a musty barn

The rodents versus the promises of a boot

Listen acuutely for another

Wanting only to be alone and unmolested

Head wrapped in a cloak, breath fogging and sore back resting on...

In The Sun

Wendy Moore

1 min read

Curled in the sun,

My pet soaks the heat

Resting for her 16 hours

What mysteries she has

Planned for her night?,

Sleeping some more.

Patrolling for rodents

Trampling my sleeping

Chest interrupting my sleep

With. A try for affection.

In the middle. Of the night

And isnt that what we all crave?...
